I like to do my own tarots once in a while and when I do them, it feels as good as getting a reading from a real tarot reader. I have a book that came with my cards but I find it doesn't go into as much detail I would like it to, so I have reached to the internet, once again, in search of the answers I am looking for. There's tons of resources out there, and if anyone knows of any really good sites please let me know.
Tarotpedia was a good one if you're looking for general tarot information. I particularly like it for finding spreads. It's a similar set-up to the Wikipedia website and there's a search box so it's easy to find what you are looking for.
Tarot Tutor is just someone's blog I found, but it provides a thorough explanation of some of the positions within the tarot spreads e.g. Past position, Present position, etc. I had a hard time finding anything as detailed as this on the web, and even in my tarot card book. Ususally it's just one liners like "The Future position tells you what is to come in your future." ?? What does that mean?? I understand that for the tarot reader, they probably get a feel for it when they see the card and have gone through the rest of the spread. But for a novice like me I prefer a little more guidance.
Aeclectic Tarot actually gives the story of the tarot cards, with detailed explanations of what each card means. I had no idea there was a story to go with the tarot cards until I found this site! Knowing the story in the order that it is told also helps trigger insights when you pull up a card, and I'm sure it would help those of you who want to become tarot card readers to remember what each card means. It also gives detailed meanings for reversals.
Learn Tarot is great for getting deeper insight into each of the cards. It lists a whole bunch of descriptive words for each card, and when I'm reading for myself, I like to go down the lists and take note of which ones pop out to me the most.
Enjoy your tarot!
